Location:

Deer Lake is a First Nations Community in North Western Ontario, located 185 air miles North West of Thunder Bay and 90 air miles north of Red Lake. 

There are recreational facilities in Deer Lake including a ball diamond, sports field & billiard hall. A band hall was constructed in 1994 adjacent to the ball diamond. The band hall facilitates meetings, social gatherings, and school activities. Other forms of recreation enjoyed by residents of Deer Lake are hockey, volleyball, snowmobiling, fishing, skating and swimming.  A large well equipped nursing station also provides services to the nearby community of North Spirit Lake.

 
Access / Airports / Transportation:
Deer Lake has a population of just over 800 residents and is accessible by aircraft and winter road.  The winter road however, is primarily used for freighting bulk fuels, building supplies and other bulk freight and is accessible for just a few shorts months during the coldest periods of the year.  Scheduled or charter flights are the most practical means of transportation with access from Red Lake, Sioux Lookout,  Pickle Lake, and Thunder Bay
 
Accommodations / Services / Attractions / Events:
There are numerous fishing lodges and remote outpost camps in the general area of Deer Lake, however Deer Lake does not offer any form of regular hotel or motel accommodations within the community.  Visitors to Deer Lake would need to book hotels reservations in Sioux Lookout, Red Lake or Pickle Lake and fly in and out on the same day.
