Fort Albany is
an isolated
First Nations
community
located in
Northern
Ontario on the
southern
shores of the
Albany River
where it
empties into
James Bay
along its west
coast.
This community
is 450 km
north of
Timmins and
700 km north
west of North
Bay and 128 km
north west of
Moosonee |

The primary
access to Fort
Albany is by
air provided
by Air Creebec
with
departures
from Timmins
on a daily
basis with
connections to
Toronto and
beyond via Air
Canada Jazz.
In addition to
Air Creebec,
there are
several
charter and
non scheduled
air services
that serve the
community from
Timmins and
Moosonee as
well.
Fort Albany is
also
accessible via
the waters of
James Bay as
well as the
Albany River.
In addition a
winter road
extends to the
community for
2- 3 months of
the year and
is used
primarily for
transporting
bulk fuel,
building
materials and
other goods
and materials.
The road links
all the
surrounding
communities of Attawapiskat, Moosonee, Moose Factory,
Kashechewan, and Fort Albany. |
