About Fort Frances

 
Location:
Fort Frances is a progressive Northwestern Ontario community located on the International border with Minnesota where Rainy Lake narrows and becomes Rainy River.  The International bridge connects Fort Frances and International Falls.  From this point visitors can take highway 11 east to Atikokan and Thunder Bay or west to the junction of highway 71 which runs north to Kenora.
 
Access / Airports / Transportation:
Fort Frances is accessible via Hwy 11 within Ontario or highways 53 and 71 from Minnesota.  Visitors to the area who wish to fly commercial airlines can fly Bearskin Airlines from Thunder Bay or drive across to International Falls and fly Northwest Airlines to Minneapolis and beyoned

Fort Frances is a very popular destination for tourism and offers a great selection of lodges, resorts, outfitters, fly-in services, hotels, motels, restaurants and shopping.  Check our links above for details on hotels and fishing destinations.  Fort Frances hosts the annual Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship which is held in July.  A popular attraction for area visitors is the town's waterfront which has recently been developed to include a walkway, bike path and picnic pavillions.
