About Hearst

 
Location:
Hearst is a small community in Northern Ontario located about 260 air miles north of Sault Ste Marie and just under 100 km west of Kapuskasing on Highway 11.  Hearst is known as the most northerly community in Ontario accessible by all weather road.
 
Access / Airports / Transportation:
There are no commercial flights to Hearst and primary access is via hwy 11.  The mainline for the Canadian National Railway also runs through Hearst and visitors can book rail tickets to the area.
 
Accommodations / Services / Attractions / Events:
Tourism is an important part of the region's economy and is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts 12 months a year.  Fishermen will find a great selection of fishing for Walleyes, northerns and Trout.  There are also plenty of opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting on the numerous lakes and rivers throughout the region.  Winter is becoming just as popular as summer for Hearst visitors, with hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails combined with great hospitality.  Visitors to Hearst will find a good selection of hotels, motels, restaurants, shopping, resorts and outfitters.  See our links for complete details on area accommodations and outfitters.
