just 12 miles
upstream from
James Bay and
the mouth of
the Moose

You cannot
drive to
Moosonee,
however there
is both air
and rail
service to the
community.
Air Creebec
provides
regular
scheduled
flights to
Moosonee and
the Ontario
Northland
Railway
provides
service from
Cochrane.
The trip by
rail takes
about four
hours in the
summer and as
much as five
hours during
the winter
months.
The Polar Bear
Express
tourist train
runs 6 times a
week in the
summer months
and the Little
Bear mixed
train runs 3
times a week
the balance of
the year.
During the
winter months,
ice roads are
plowed and
maintained
between
Moosonee and
the coastal
communities of
Fort Albany,
Kashechewan
and
Attawapiskat. |
