For many years
Pickle Lake
was a thriving
mining
community,
however as the
mining slowed
down, tourism
has become a
vital part of
the area
economy with
hundreds of
avid hunters
and fishermen
visiting the
area each
year.
The town is
aptly named
"The Last
Frontier" in
recognition of
its remote
location.
To meet the
demand, there
are several
first class
lodges,
outfitters and
fly-in
services in
the area
catering to
sportsmen and
family groups.
There is a
motel in
Pickle Lake
and some of
the outfitters
also supply
overnight
accommodations
for groups who
plan to travel
to more remote
regions the
next day.
