an isolated
First Nation's
community
located in
Northwestern
Ontario about
180 air miles
north west of
Pickle Lake
and about 55
miles north of
Red Lake. |

There are no
roads leading
to Pikangikum,
other than a
temporary
winter road
which is
maintained 2 -
3 months of
the year and
used to
transport bulk
fuels,
building
supplies and
other heavy
freight.
The primary
access to the
community is
via air which
is supplied by
Wasaya Airways
with
departures
from Red Lake,
Sioux Lookout
and Thunder
Bay.
Charter
flights are
also available
to Pikangikum
from Red Lake,
Pickle Lake
and Sioux
Lookout. |

motels in
Pikangikum,
and visitors
to the area
should contact
the Band
Office prior
to making a
trip to
determine if
accommodations
can be
arranged.
If not, you
would be
advised to
make hotel
reservations
in Red Lake
and fly in and
out the same
day.
There are
several lodges
and remote
outpost camps
in the region
that surrounds
Pikangikum
which cater to
hunters and
fishermen.
