Pikangikum is an isolated First Nation's community located in Northwestern Ontario about 180 air miles north west of Pickle Lake and about 55 miles north of Red Lake.

Access / Airports / Transportation:
There are no roads leading to Pikangikum, other than a temporary winter road which is maintained 2 - 3 months of the year and used to transport bulk fuels, building supplies and other heavy freight.  The primary access to the community is via air which is supplied by Wasaya Airways with departures from Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay.  Charter flights are also available to Pikangikum from Red Lake, Pickle Lake and Sioux Lookout.

Accommodations / Services / Attractions / Events:
There are no motels in Pikangikum, and visitors to the area should contact the Band Office prior to making a trip to determine if accommodations can be arranged.  If not, you would be advised to make hotel reservations in Red Lake and fly in and out the same day.  There are several lodges and remote outpost camps in the region that surrounds Pikangikum which cater to hunters and fishermen.  Complete package deals would be available out of Red Lake.  See our fishing link for complete listings of outfitters and resorts.
