Wawa Ontario is a small community in Northern Ontario on Hwy 101 which is just a few kilometres off Hwy 17.  Wawa is about 220 km north of Sault Ste Marie.  Anyone who makes the 2 hour drive along hwy 17 north of Sault Ste Marie will certainly be awe struck by the majestic beauty of the region along the north east shores of Lake Superior.  As you drive into town, you are greeted by a 28 foot tall statue of a Canada goose.  Wawa takes its name from the Ojibway word "wewe" which translates to wild goose.

Thousands of pristine lakes dot the landscape in and around Wawa, making this a virtual paradise for Sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts.  Trophy Brook Trout, Splake, Lake Trout, Walleyes and Northern Pike are just some of the species that are common to the area and there are dozens of resorts, lodges, outfitters and fly-in services that cater to the numerous fishermen that visit the area each year.
